Carlos Muñoz

The Castellón steeplechaser Carlos Muñoz began his career in athletics at the Penyeta Roja club in his city during his school years, where he gradually specialized in long-distance events. After a few years, and as part of his sporting evolution, he joined the best Spanish athletics club in recent times, Playas de Castellón, and began training with his main leader: Pepe Ortuño.

In 2016 he achieved the Spanish junior national title in 2000m steeplechase and get to qualify for the final at the European Junior Championships held in Georgia. Two years later he participated at the World U20 Championships in Tampere, already in the distance of 3000m steeplechase, and after a 2019 marked by injuries, he returned to the top in 2020 being Spanish U23 champion in his second year in the category.

He currently trains under his former clubmate, Germán Castel, as he continues progressing to reach the elite of one of the most traditional track and field events in Spain.
