David Carranza David Carranza

David Carranza is one of the most promising 800-meter young talents on the national scene. Natural from Briviesca, he began developing his incipient sports career in this small village in the province of Burgos where, in the absence of a running track, he adapted his training to the environment around him.

He has been Spanish U18 outdoor and indoor champion and in 2019 he achieved his first international success by reaching the bronze medal at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Baku (Azerbaijan).

At the end of 2020, he moved to León to enter the High Performance Center and start training with José Enrique Villacorta. A knee injury forced him to undergo surgery at the beginning of 2021, but he was later proclaimed Spanish U20 outdoor champion in 800 meters outdoors and reached the semifinals at the European U20 Championships in Tallinn.
