The two-time duathlon World Champion, Emilio Martín, began his sporting career in athletics reaching outstanding results in youth categories, in which he was silver medalist at the Spanish U23 Championships and being part of the Spanish team, getting a personal best of 3:39.92 in the 1,500 meters.
In 2011 he decided to dedicate professionally to the duathlon, leaving track and field in the background. That year he won the Spanish National Championship and finished in the top 20 in the World Championships. Since then, his career has been spectacular, becoming the best Spanish duathlete in history thanks to his six individual medals in World Championships and three in European Championships achieved so far.
In addition, as a preparation for the big duathlon events, Emilio successfully alternates the running races, in which he has gradually climbed up from distance until he recently made his debut in the marathon with a great time of 2:17:22.
