José Carlos Pinto

The Portuguese middle-distance athlete José Carlos Pinto didn't start practicing sports until he started playing soccer in 2014 and a year later he tried his luck in athletics, achieving his first national medal that same season, as junior in the distance of 400 meters.

In 2016 he joined SL Benfica and began training with Susana Silva, in addition to permanently switching to the 800-meter event in which he continues to progress to this day. After a brief period under British coach Vicente Modahl, he currently trains in Lisbon with João Abrantes.

He already has six Portuguese national titles and in 2022 he got his first international achievement with the bronze medal at the Ibero American Championships in La Nucía in 800 and 4x400 meters.
