The 400-meter athlete Laura Hernández began in the sport at the Olot Swimming Club, where she combined swimming with cross-country races in those early years. At 14 she met Augusto Godínez, her current coach, with whom she began to specialize as sprinter, and after a brief stint at the L'Hospitalet Atletisme club she joined F.C. Barcelona.
After winning the national Spanish youth titles in 200 meters and junior in 400, in 2014 she went with a scholarship to the University of Findlay in Ohio (United States), where she didn't adapt to training and ended up injured in the knee and returning to Spain three years later.
A knee operation and several hamstring injuries after, in 2021 she found the origin of the physical problems that she had been dragging, recovering her best level and with the expectations of continuing that promising progression that was truncated in the last seasons, achieving her first national senior outdoor podium one year later and being part of the Spanish national team for the first time.
