The Mexican 800-meter runner Mariela Real is one of the great references of athletics in her country. She started in her sport when she was 12 years old, practicing combined events, to later specialize in sprints until finally settling in the 800 meters.
She was born in the state of Nayarit and she moved to Jalisco in 2014 to continue her evolution as an athlete with the help of her current coach: Ramón Guevara. With him, she has achieved her greatest successes and together they dream of reaching the 2024 Paris Olympics at her highest level.
She has been finalist at the Pan American Games and Central American and Caribbean Games in 800 meters, and in 2021 she broke the Mexican record held by Ana Guevara since 1998, setting it in 2:00.92 for the time being.
