Mehdi Elnabaoui

The athlete of Moroccan origin Mehdi Elnabaoui, born in Lahouaza, arrived with his family in Spain when he was only 7 years old, settling in the small Pontevedra municipality of A Estrada, where he has been living ever since. At the age of 11 he began practicing athletics, training with the local coach Ángel Bugallo with whom he continues today.

In these years he has become one of the best long-distance runners of his generation, accumulating Spanish champion titles on all surfaces (outdoor, indoor and cross country) in both U16 and U18 categories. Since then he hasn't been able to get on the podium of the national championships or be summoned with the Spanish team, since from the U20 category both possibilities are reserved for athletes with Spanish nationality, a procedure that although Mehdi began long ago it hasn't yet been resolved by the authorities.

Meanwhile, the young Galician runner continues to do the best he can: run as fast as possible.
