The middle-distance athlete Mohamed Attaoui was born in Beni Mellal (Morocco) and arrived in Spain at six years old, settling with his family in Torrelavega (Cantabria). He began running regional cross country races until he caught the attention of the chiefs of Atletismo Torrelavega who brought him into the club and, after a couple of years training with the young categories, he became part of Raúl Gutiérrez's group, his current coach.
In 2021 he obtained the Spanish nationality and began to increase his training, which was a meteoric evolution that took him a few months later, already in 2022, to achieve the Spanish U23 national indoor title in 1500 meters and to break all his personal bests in the early outdoor season, making it clear that he still doesn't know where his ceiling is.
