The Uruguayan athlete Nicolás Cuestas is one of the best distance runners in Latin America in the last decade. He has been proclaimed South American half-marathon champion in 2019 and runner-up in the 10,000 meters in 2021, and holds the national marathon record, achieved in Seville in 2022 with 2:11:03.
He started practicing athletics in 2003 and in 2010 he began to train with Martín Mañana, who continues as his current coach. In 2015 he achieved the entry standard for the Olympic Games in the marathon, going to Rio de Janeiro the following year, which was an important turning point in his sports career.
He has currently moved to Spain with his family to prepare for the current Olympic cycle and try to reach the summit in Paris 2024.
