The Asturian Pablo Rodríguez Coviella began playing football until a second place at the San Silvestre de Avilés made him start trying athletics. In his second year as U14, he put himself in the hands of the local coach Carlos Alonso, who trained Irene Alfonso and Yago Lamela in his early years, and he left aside his first sport to start running.
Although he started out standing out in long-distance events, his move to the U18 category has revealed him as one of the most talented middle-distance runners on the national scene, successfully alternating between the 800 and 1500 meters. In the 800 meters he got a time of 1:49.72 in 2021, which gave him the silver medal in the Spanish U18 Outdoor Championship, and places him 7th in the national ranking all-time in this category.
